Learn to make goat cheese

Aracena, Huelva

Learn to elaborate goat cheese

Come and participate in all the process, starting with the milking of the goats, processing the milk, curd, cured ... until you obtain this delicious natural product. Relax and enjoy the rest of the  day on the farm in the countryside. It is a beautiful area, with meadows and cork trees, close to a nice view point of the mountains that you can reach by a short walk. This activity is especially recommended for children because the woman who organises it is charming and pays them very special attention. Also because there are goats and pigs in the dairy that children will enjoy.

Information about the craftsman

This activity is well worth just to meet the very special woman who develops it. A lovely lady of infinite energy and happyness that has the same talent to milk a goat, to send cheeses to the best gastronomy critics of France and US, to prepare a delicious goat stew, receive a prestigious French chef or to manage to be understood by a Polish student that she welcomes for three months. The visitor can feel nothing but admiration for this entrepreneur woman, who defends the values of her land and has fought for its cheese factory. In her own words: "There are people who receive everything for free and there are others who have to do everything themselves". Our artisan has rescued the traditional cheese recipes making the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche cheeses well known and appreciated.

Information about the area

Aracena is a beautiful mountain village that gives its name to the Natural Park where it is located. Chestnut and cork forests refreshed by streams and fountains constitute an ideal place to enjoy nature. There are numerous well-marked trails that start from the town. Enjoy its famous cuisine, especially well known for Iberian pork specialities, such as iberian ham “jamón serrano” and grilled meats. You can combine your trip and see the Gruta de las Maravillas, one of the most beautiful and best preserved caves in Europe, adapted for the visit and accesible by foot in the village.
